Moana has been a favorite movie in our house for a long time, but this past summer when we were at the beach, we had the lightbulb moment realization that Audrey IS Moana. If there were a such thing as a “spirit princess,” Moana would be hers. “The sea, it calls me” sums her up perfectly. She is at peace in the water, and truly a different kid in that environment. She decided back in the summer that she wanted to have a Moana birthday party for her 8th birthday.
Audrey’s Moana Birthday Party
Audrey’s Moana 8th birthday party was probably the simplest I’ve ever done, as far as food goes. We had her party at our local cheer gym, where the kids get an hour and a half of free play in the gym with trampolines and inflatables, and 30 minutes for food and snacks. We only got a very short amount of time to set up, so we had to go as simple as possible. I set up a simple backdrop with a balloon arch that I had made ahead of time. I laid out some palm leaves across the table to give it a little more color and dimension. I used our stuffed Pua and Hei Hei as decor, as well as little jars of sand and shells. All plates and napkins were from Party City.
For food, we did some finger foods and an ice cream cake. I got a simple Carvel ice cream cake from Kroger and topped it with Moana figurines. The blue icing borders were perfect. On the menu:
- Fruit tray
- Goldfish
- Cheeseballs
- Ice cream cake
- Sundrop punch in coconut cups
Our girl had a blast at her party and we’re so thankful that so many were able to come celebrate with her. The weather threw a wrench in our party plans. Her party was supposed to be the weekend of the big ice storm, so we had to reschedule due to driving conditions. [This isn’t the first time that her party had to be rescheduled due to weather. Her 4th birthday party (also at Cheerville, ironically) had to be rescheduled because of a tornado! For some reason, January weather in Alabama is super unpredictable.] Everyone was so understanding and we’re thankful to all of our friends for being flexible and changed their plans to celebrate with Audrey.
