In today’s Small Business Small Talk, we’re chatting with Whistle Britches Children’s Boutique. Whistle Britches opened by Publix on County Line Rd. earlier this year and I have been in love with it since the first time I stepped foot in the door. They have a huge variety of children’s and baby items, as well as diaper bags, Bogg bags, custom applique and embroidery, and more.
I tend to see something on their social media channels that I love, order it for both of my girls, and then see something new the next week that I want to order as well. They are constantly coming out with new products and new applique designs and they are all SO CUTE! They also have frequent sales, so be sure to follow them on social media to stay informed (links at the bottom of this post).
Jodi, the owner of Whistle Britches, started her business online in 2017, and expanded to a storefront earlier this year. She is also a mom to a little girl and a nurse, so I feel like I can relate to her very well. We found out that her aunt was my nurse manager at my first nursing job in Montgomery. It’s so funny how small the world is sometimes!
I’m excited to share more about Whistle Britches Children’s Boutique with you today. Whistle Britches is kindly giving away a $25 gift card and you can enter to win at the bottom of this post!

Q: I’d love to hear your story! How did you get started? What inspired you to open your shop?
A: I have also always wanted to have my business of my own. After having our first baby girl in 2017, I knew I wanted to open a children’s boutique in Madison. Finally, things seemed to be falling into place to open up this year. The west side of Madison is growing very quickly, and we wanted to be able to offer stylish, quality children’s clothing to shoppers in our area.
Q: What can people expect when they walk into your shop? What makes your business unique?
A: When you walk into Whistle Britches, we want you to feel like family. We wanted you to feel comfortable, welcome, and loved.
Not only do we offer quality, affordable children’s clothing and shoes, we also carry unique toys, infant clothing and gifts, dress up “costumes”, and gift items for “moms”. Additionally, we offer custom embroidery and applique. We enjoy working with customers to create custom designs. We have a little bit of everything at many different price points and different styles.
Q: What is your company’s mission?
A: We know how important it is to you to dress your little one. Whether it be their first birthday, their first day of school, a trip to the zoo, and everything in between, we want to help you find quality, affordable, and age appropriate clothing every step of the way.
Yes, it may just hairbows, dresses, socks, or swim trunks, but we also like to think of it as a ministry. We may not reach the ends of the earth, but if we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to the busy mom then we have succeeded. We are busy moms too, and we all get overwhelmed. We want all of our customers know that we care about them, and through our actions we hope they feel the love of Jesus.
Q: What are your most popular items?
A: Our top 5 most popular items are:
2. Bogg Bags
3. Baby Gowns and Gifts
4. Custom Seasonal Applique Shirts
5. Ruffle Butts clothing
Q: How do you select your products for your shop?
A: We attend Americas Mart in Atlanta several times a year. We spend several days shopping for what we think that our customers will like. We also spend hours and hours looking for what is the perfect mix of trendy and classic. We also like to find items that are different than other boutiques in our area in order to give customers a bigger selection.
Q: Is there anything new or exciting coming up that you’d like to share with your customers?
A: We are so excited about our Trick or Treat event on October 27th. We will have some very special guests and special promotions.
Also, on November 13th we are excited for our very first Mom’s Night Out. We will be painting a Cookies for Santa plate. Be on the lookout for more information about this event.
On November 17th, we will have Santa in the store for photo sessions with Click Photo Designs. Call the store to schedule your appointment.
Q: I can imagine that taking the leap to start your own business can be nerve-wracking. Is there any advice you would offer to someone who is considering opening a business of their own?
A: A whole lot of research and PRAYER! Thankfully, a lot of really big doors opened for me and I have a great support system. I could not do it without the daily support from family and friends.
How can you show Whistle Britches your support?
