It’s the last Wednesday of the month (already?!) and I’m linking up with a few other bloggers (Shay, Mel and Shaeffer) for What’s Up Wednesday. This is a fun summary of the past month and a little different take on my typical “Life Lately” posts.
Yesterday was Raley’s 5th birthday and her party is this weekend, so I am in full birthday/party planning mode. Yesterday I got some real good “Mommy-Raley” play time and snuggle time, which I enjoyed so much. This week has been, and will continue to be a busy one. How I’m finding time to even sit down and type this, I don’t know. But here we are!
What we’re eating this week…
If I had wrote this post last week, I would have had some better meals to share with you (like cheddar broccoli casserole, “Chicken Crunch” which is similar to poppy seed chicken casserole, chicken enchilada soup and spaghetti).
But like I said, this week is busier, which means less time for cooking. Sunday after evening church we pre-ordered a Donato’s pizza to pick up on the way home and had a “pizza and movie night” in the living room. Yesterday I made beef and cheese enchiladas for me and David and used the left over ground beef to make taco meat. The girls ate the taco meat and I saved the rest to use tonight before church. Last night we ate at Rosie’s (Raley requested the “chips and cheese dip where you throw the pennies” for her birthday.) And on Thursday I’m planning on making Farfalle pasta with Alfredo sauce.
What I’m reminiscing about…
This past weekend in T-town had me all nostalgic about “the good ole days” at Alabama. As we were walking down the strip to and from the stadium, David and I were talking about all the fun things we used to do, the places we used to eat, and how so much has changed… Being so care-free, with little responsibilities… Sitting in the student section at football games and only sitting down during timeouts and between quarters. Even though we wouldn’t trade what we have now for anything, we do really miss that life sometimes.
What I’m loving…
Stitch Fix! I’ve already worn a few of the pieces I received in my box on Friday and I love it. This service is so much fun. I’m not sure why it took me so long to try it.
What we’ve been up to…
School has started back so we’ve gotten back into some sort of a routine. We’ve been trying to take it easy as much as possible and enjoy our time home together. This past weekend was supposed to be a lazy weekend at home, then we got the opportunity to go to the Bama game and we jumped all over it! (Thank you to my in-laws for “sponsoring” those tickets!)
Yesterday we celebrated Raley’s birthday, and had the best day. She has been such a sweet girl lately and I can see her little brain growing. She’s becoming more observant about things around her and asks intelligent questions that surprise me sometimes. I’ll share more about her birthday next week. I’ll just say that we let her choose how the entire day went and we had an incredible time!
What I’m dreading…
I honestly can’t think of anything at the moment. We are heading into my favorite time of year, and I can’t wait to soak it all in.
What I’m working on…
I’ve been working on my “Small Business Small Talk” series on the blog. I’ve got a few local businesses lined up to feature within the next few weeks and I’m excited to share them with you! I featured Elles Photography Studios last week and tomorrow I’ll be sharing an interview I did with Grounded Coffee in Madison. It’s been fun to get to know these people (there are actual people behind the logos!) through this series, and I hope that if you’re local, you will give these a read to learn more about the small business community in our area and ways you can support them!
What I’m excited about…
Raley’s birthday party this weekend! For almost a year now she has requested a “Tinker Bell birthday party,” so by-golly that’s what she’s getting! We’ve always done our birthday parties either at our house or my parents’ but this year we decided to do something a little different. We decided to have her party at “the beautiful garden” (aka the Huntsville Botanical Garden) and have a fairy garden tea party. I’m a tad nervous about having time to set up, because, like I said, I’ve never done a party outside of a house where I could set up ahead of time. I’ve enlisted some help though, and I think we’ll be ok!
What I’m watching…
American Horror Story! We watched the first episode of Apocalypse and I had heard that it was supposed to be a mix of Murder House and Coven, but it didn’t seem to hint at either of those (except for the man with the last name “Langdon” sounded familiar at the end of the first episode). Well, if you didn’t know, Netflix has all 7 seasons! So we are going back and watching Murder House before going on in Season 8. We may or may not go back and watch Coven too. I think of all the seasons so far, Murder House and Hotel have been my favorites. What about you? If you watch AHS, what is your favorite season?
What I’m wearing…
I know I’ve already mentioned Stitch Fix, but I wear the items I got from my first shipment quite frequently. It’s safe to say I’ve already got my money’s worth out of the two items I kept last time and I’m sure it will be the same with this box as well.
What I’m doing this weekend…
Raley’s party! We have a good bit of family that will be in town for the party, so we’re excited to visit with them as well.
What I’m looking forward to next month…
All the fall things! I love the birthdays in September, but I do believe that October is my favorite month. So excited for Halloween and to knock some items off our fall bucket list!
So, I think that’s it for What’s Up Wednesday! Check back tomorrow for Small Business Small Talk with Grounded Coffee.

I watched part of AHS Coven and realllly liked that. Some of them are just too scary for me, though, haha!

Yes, it’s definitely creepy! The last season (Cult) was scary to me because it’s something I could see happening in real life…kind of like that movie Strangers. I will never watch that again!
