Today I’m linking up with Kait from Communikait for her September blogging challenge to talk about what’s in my bag. I love her idea to do a blogging challenge like this for herself, AND that she’s asking others to join in on the party. I plan to link up with her for a few of these over the next few weeks. If you see one on her list you’d like me to chat about, let me know and I’ll try to make it happen!
What’s In My Bag?
Today I’m sharing what’s in my bag. Honestly, there’s not much in there. I keep the essentials such as my wallet, keys, chapstick, a pen ,and emergency medications in there at all times. You may also find my planner, some mints or gum, a tampon, and random receipts or coupons floating around in there.
1.
At the beginning of the year just after I got my Happy Planner, I decided I needed a cross-body bag that was big enough to fit my planner. I searched and searched for one and most everything I found was either too big or too small. I wanted a cross-body bag because they are easier to carry around when you are chasing toddlers. I ended up finding this Foley + Corinna cross-body bag at Stein Mart. I loved how the zipper is on the side and not on top. It’s very functional and easy to get into.
If I’m not carrying my planner with me I’ll typically switch to a very small cross-body bag that will only hold my essentials.
2.
This is with me most of the time. Like I said, I needed a bag big enough to carry the planner because it is what keeps me organized and on task. If you’re unfamiliar with this type of planner, you can read more about it in this planner post.
3. Burts Bees lip balm
Definitely my favorite. I like the original peppermint flavor the best. It burns a little bit when it goes on, but it’s a good kind of burn. If chap stick doesn’t burn, I don’t feel like it’s doing its job. That’s probably weird, but true.
4. Urban Decay lip gloss
I know that it’s probably weird that I’m 30 and rarely wear anything on my lips besides chap stick, but honestly, I just don’t care. If I do feel like I need something more I use this”lip junkie” lip gloss by Urban Decay.
5. Ibuprofen + other meds
I have a small bag with several different medications that I may need. It holds at least one of my migraine pills, some Zofran for nausea (I tend to get pretty nauseous on car rides and with migraines), Imodium (because you never know), and Ibuprofen. If I have a headache that’s not quite a migraine, 800mg of Ibuprofen is the only thing that will help. If it’s reached the point of a migraine, only my prescription medication will do the trick, which is why it’s always with me.
6. Small wallet
I like a smaller one because it easily fits in my bigger black bag and my smaller bag.
7. Hand lotion
Right now I have this “At The Beach” hand lotion from Bath and Body Works in my bag. I will probably switch it out for more of a fall scent soon, but boy do I love this beachy smell! It reminds me of the smell of sunscreen and sand.
That’s about it! Nothing too terribly exciting, but exactly what I need. What essentials do you keep in your bag?

I love that you linked up today! I’m naturally curious when people share these kinds of posts, so OF COURSE I wanted to add it to my prompt line-up. I’ve seen that scent of lotion – does it smell good? Also – I can relate on carrying around some meds – you just never know!! Thanks again for linking up 🙂 I can’t wait to see what else you join in on this month. XO

Yes the lotion smells so good! Just like the name, it smells like you’re at the beach! I’m excited to join in on a few more and I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts

I love posts like this! I carry my wallet, keys, phone, a Beautycounter hand lotion and lip conditioner because I don’t do artificial fragrance, and a pack of baby wipes because even though we are past the diaper stage I feel like I always need those for some mess or another. Love your bag! I agree that cross body bags are so convenient for wrangling toddlers and finding a cute larger one is a challenge.

Ooh wipes are a great idea! If I don’t have the girls bag with me, it would be nice to have some handy. We use them frequently!
