Today is Raley’s 5th birthday and I am in disbelief about where the time has gone. We’ve got some fun things on tap for today and I can’t wait to make our oldest feel special and celebrated!
So I’m keeping it light today and chatting about some of my favorite hobbies and tomorrow I’ll be linking this post with Kait for her September Blogging Challenge. I’ve enjoyed both reading Kait’s posts, as well as participating in some of my own throughout the month.
Sometimes hobbies come and go depending on the time you have to devote to them or a particular stage in your life. There are a few that have stuck around for me and a few that I wish I had more time for.
My Favorite Hobbies
Golfing
I’m fortunate enough to get out and golf every now and then, but I do wish I had time to play more. I’ve been golfing with my dad since I was little and have always enjoyed it. Then when David and I met in high school, he was on the golf team and got to play at their home course for free. We’d tell them I was just riding along so I didn’t have to pay, but once we got a few holes in, I’d play along with him. We golfed quite frequently in high school, then after we got married and before we had kids (we were broke in college so we only got to play every now and then). Now I only play about a handful of times a year, but it’s always so much fun.
Planning
I have enjoyed using planners and staying organized on paper for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until this year that I started diving into “creative planning.” It has been so much fun, and one may even say I’m obsessed.
Blogging
This blog has been a “hobby” of mine since 2014. I enjoy sharing the random happenings of my life with you, and I hope that along the way you may find some encouragement, something that may help make some aspect of your life easier, or even just a chuckle every now and then, because you’ve been there and you know where I’m coming from.
Baking
I definitely enjoy baking more than I enjoy cooking, and sometimes I get into these baking frenzies where I want to try all these new recipes and bake all the things! But I have to reel it in because we can’t be eating all those sweets all the time.
Scrapbooking
Man, I wish this was something I still had time for! I believe I’m behind about 6 years on my scrapbooking. I used to work on it frequently before kids. I have books from when David and I met, up until about a year before Raley was born. This is about 8 years worth of books that are full of photos from high school (proms, homecomings, graduations, softball games), college (Alabama football games, vacations, when we first brought home Maddie, college friends and the random things we’d do), Disney World, our wedding and honeymoon, after we got married (vacations, ball games, our cat Utley, outings with friends).
They have so much in there and it’s fun to flip through and reminisce about old times. I’m not sure I’ll ever catch up. It would take a very long time to catch all the way back up from where I left off. Maybe someday though…
Let’s chat –
