Today I’m linking up with a few other bloggers (Shay, Mel and Shaeffer) for What’s Up Wednesday. These are a fun summary of the past month and a little different take on my typical “Life Lately” posts.
What we’re eating this week…
I actually went grocery shopping and cooked this week! Imagine that. I go through phases where I’m really good about planning our weekly meals and phases where I’m pretty terrible at it. This week so far we’ve had:
What I’m reminiscing about…
The marriage retreat David and I went on a couple weeks ago. That quiet time alone was so very needed!
What I’m loving…
This Brazilian cold brew from Grounded Coffee here in Madison has been my fave of the summer! I love coffee but have a hard time drinking it hot when it’s blazing outside. I tried several before finding the perfect drink!
What we’ve been up to…
Oh so much. I’ve jabbed all about it in my last couple Life Lately posts this month so I won’t go through all that again. I think it’s safe to say that we’re ready for school to start back. Audrey especially has been unusually wild lately and I’m ready to pull my hair out. I try to get them out of the house in the mornings to play and have fun so we’re not getting to bored, but we’re all ready to be back on a schedule right about now. (One more week!)
What I’m dreading…
The hospital I work at is completely changing charting systems which means tons of training for all of the staff. We’re all required to take 6 4-hour classes, which I’m definitely not looking forward to.
What I’m working on…
All the blogging stuff. The switch to WordPress earlier this month came with a laundry list of things I needed to get set up and running, re-verify with the new URL, update within the site itself, etc. etc. I won’t bore you with the behind the scenes stuff, but I will say it’s going to be an ongoing project for quite some time.
What I’m excited about…
This weekend we’re taking a family trip to Collierville, TN to visit one of our good friends from college. We’re planning on going to the Memphis Zoo, which I have been dying to go to! I’ve heard it’s the best out of the zoos that we have relatively close to us. Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Birmingham are all within 1.5-3.5 hours. Memphis is the furthest. I’ll let you know next week if it holds up to it’s reputation! If you’ve been around a while, you know I love zoos, so I’m excited to explore this one.
What I’m watching…
World of Dance is my jam right now. I’ve always enjoyed watching just about any type of dance and the dancers on this show are incredible! What a fun show to watch! We also started watching Sharp Objects on HBO Go. It’s based on the Gillian Flynn book, which I loved! It had me sucked in and haunted me for a while after putting it down. I was excited to see they created a mini-series. So far it’s pretty true to the book.
What I’m listening to…
Kids talking like all the time. We attempted a sister sleepover for the first time (where the girls both sleep in the same bed) but Audrey literally talked for 2 hours straight. By 11:30pm we figured there was no slowing down so we put Audrey back in her own bed for the night.
What I’m wearing
I wear this light-weight, flowy green shirt from Francesca’s like all the time because it’s so stinking comfy. If they had had more colors I would have bought them all! I wear it with jeans, denim shorts, and athletic shorts. Oh and of course, Sanuk’s all day every day.
What I’m looking forward to next month…
So many things! Football season, my birthday, Raley’s birthday, and getting back into a routine.
What else is new…
I’ve got a fun new series in the works featuring local small businesses, so be on the look out for that! If you are a small business owner in the Madison/Huntsville/Athens area, or know someone who is, tell them to shoot me an email!
That wraps it up for today! Have a great rest of the week and a relaxing long holiday weekend!

Oh my goodness, you could not be more spot-on about “Sharp Objects” haunting you long after you put it down. I felt the same exact way, but it has remained my favorite GF book! I hope you guys have a great long weekend 🙂

Yes!! So creepy. Dark Places sucked me in quickly but Sharp Objects stuck with me for a while! They were both great, but I think Sharp Objects was my favorite too. Have you watched the series?
