My Very First Stitch Fix Review – June 2018

When I pulled this out my first thought was that it was super soft and seemed to be good quality, however I’m not usually a deep V-neck kind of girl. I liked that it was very soft, flowy, and comfortable, but I did not like that it was pretty see-through. I would not feel comfortable wearing this top without some sort of cami or something under it, which meant that the cami would probably be visible when I’m actually moving around (rather than standing still, taking a selfie), which I feel takes away from the look. I ultimately decided to send this one back.

This was the piece I was most anticipating and most excited about trying on. I specifically requested white jeans while filling out my style profile and my stylist delivered! My problem with finding jeans that fit is that I have wider hips and thighs, but a smaller waste + I’m short! Which usually means that if they fit in the waste, they’re too tight in the legs and if they fit in the legs, they’re too big around the waste (ugh!)  Also, because I’m short, they are usually too long, which means I end up having to roll them up. This also means that high wasted pants do not look good on me because my torso is so short (#shortpeopleprobs).

I was very specific about ALL of this + what I was looking for in my profile so my stylist would have the best chance of sending me something that fit and she did! They fit perfectly in the waste, they’re just the right length, and although they are a tad tight right now, they are stretchy so I know with wear they will be fine (they’re not so tight that they’re uncomfortable + I’m hoping to lose a few pounds in the near future). I also love that they are a thicker material, so I know they’re good quality. These are definitely keepers and will get lots of wear this summer and fall!

I was pretty excited about this top when I pulled it out of the box. I like how light weight it is and I loved the stripes and the color. My only complaint is that it’s too long! It’s hard to tell in the photo, but it just didn’t look quite right. If it had been a couple inches shorter in length it would have been perfect. Back in the bag you go!

I’ll admit, this wasn’t my favorite item coming out of the box, but as soon as I put it on I was in love (like immediate heart eyes! ?) This material is so so soft, it’s thick so you know it’s good quality, but still very breathable. And the best part is that the length is PERFECT! My problem with t-shirt dresses is that a lot of the time they are too long so they make me look even shorter. My stylist sent me a Medium Petite in this dress and it is absolutely perfect!

I will admit, if I saw this dress in the store, I may not have even picked it up to try it on due to the price tag. At $64, this is a bit more than I would typically pay for a t-shirt dress, but I am absolutely in love and couldn’t wait to wear it. (I actually wore it to church yesterday, and then kept it on for the rest of the day to go shopping with my in-laws!) Although it’s more than I would typically pay, it’s safe to say that I will get a ton of wear out of it so I think it will be money well spent in the long run.

I immediately liked this top at first glance because I love cold shoulder tops and I really liked the color. It has super thin grey and white stripes that makes it almost look solid grey. I also liked how it kind of crossed over at the waist line, which I thought made it unique.

I was very much on the fence about this one, because while I do like certain things about it, it didn’t give me an overwhelming I have to keep this feeling, like the t-shirt dress did. I ultimately decided to send it back and here’s why (bear with me on this) – if I had kept this piece, the dress, and the white jeans, it would have only been $16 less than if I were to keep the entire box (because you get 25% off when you keep all 5 items). I felt like if I was going to get these 3 items, then I needed to keep the rest of it to make it worth the money, however the other two pieces I really didn’t love. Plus, I have several tops that are similar in shape and material to this one, so I didn’t feel like this was a “gotta have it” item. Whew. I hope that made sense.

I think it’s safe to say I’m hooked! It was so much fun seeing that box on my door, finding out what was inside and then trying it all on (in my bedroom and not in a public dressing room with my kids arguing loudly and constantly asking for snacks). PLUS you have time to think about it and can try your pieces on multiple times if needed. There’s no pressure to make a quick decision in a store, you have 3 days to decide.

I wish this is something I could do each month, but right not it’s just not. For now I will schedule my fixes for every 3 months, which means my next one will come in September, just in time for fall! I will add, every one of these items were right in my color wheel, which I loved, but some just didn’t work due to reasons listed above. I’m excited to see what my stylist sends next time around!

1. Create a profile

2. Fill out your style profile (be honest and as specific as you can)

3. Schedule your first fix (you’ll be charged a $20 styling fee at time of shipment which will be applied as credit toward anything you decide to keep)

4. Try on your items in the comfort of your own home and decide what you want to keep. (Remember, if you keep all 5 pieces you get 25% off your entire order.)

5. Place the items you do not wish to keep back in the prepaid envelope and drop it in any USPS mailbox.

6. Go to your online profile and check out – be sure to leave specific feedback about what you liked and didn’t like about the items in your shipment. This will allow your stylist to better dress you in the future!

– You don’t have to hop around to different stores searching for something you’re looking for. If you would like a specific piece of clothing or if you have an upcoming event that you need an outfit for, let your stylist know before scheduling your box.

– You can set your price point wherever you’re comfortable with, so that you will get items that are within your budget.

– Returning items is free. Just use the prepaid, pre-addressed envelope and toss it in any USPS mailbox.

– You can stop at any time. You can schedule recurring boxes (every month, 2 months, 3 months, etc.) or you can request them on demand. You are fully in control.

– The initial $20 styling fee is applied toward anything you decide to keep from your box. It is most beneficial to keep at least one item from your shipment, or you will lose the $20 styling fee.

– If you give honest feedback, as time goes by your stylist will get to know your style better and will send you items that you are more likely to keep.
