Last week I had the pleasure of working with Sterling Travel, a local travel agency in Huntsville, for their annual Customer Appreciation Night at Huntsville Country Club. This is a fun event hosted by the travel agency in order to show their appreciation for their loyal customers. Customers have the opportunity to munch on yummy food and meet representatives from all kinds of different companies. They are also entered for a chance to win prizes (and there were some good ones!)
My mother-in-law, Lynn Tenneson is the General Manager of the company and asked if I would help out with decorations this year. When she told me the theme was “Travel Bucket List” at first I was a little stumped. But once I got a general idea in my head, the thoughts just kept spiraling.
I wanted to center the look around different places you would travel around the world that would be on a bucket list and feature different items from different countries, along with globes, old suitcases, cameras, and of course, some buckets.
I also made a few chalkboard signs to help tie everything together. This large one was at the entrance.
There were four high-top tables to decorate, so I featured Germany, China, Africa, and Hawaii. Along with using different items to represent different countries, I thought it would be nice to “label” them. I found some vintage map files from Digital Alice on Etsy, which I easily downloaded and printed. I then handlettered the different places onto the maps and used frames which I already had around the house! Also, we needed to bring in some buckets somehow to keep with the theme so we ended up getting a couple bunches of baby’s breath and sticking various country flags in them. I thought they turned out very pretty. 🙂

A few other items set up in various places around the event:
Along with different places that would be on a bucket list, I thought it would be fun and add a little bit of a different element if we featured activities that would be on a bucket list as well!
I thought it was pretty creative how they did their prize drawings. Each person put their completed prize ticket into a large bucket. When each winner’s name was drawn they got to come up and pop a balloon. Inside each balloon was the name of a booth. The rep from that booth would then come up and present their prize. Each booth gave out a prize and Sterling gave away a couple as well. There were some pretty good ones!
I am so thankful to Lynn and Sterling Travel for this opportunity to branch out and do something a little different. I loved how it all turned out! If you are planning a vacation or business trip any time soon give Sterling Travel a call!
